Oh the places you'll go
Here I sit in Watamu on the coast of Kenya, the last month has been a crazy blur of sailing down the east coast of Africa to parties on the beach. Coming back into the ‘office’ is a huge change of pace. Our startup has taken a bit of a break for the last month, mostly to think on its future. Where do we go? Do we keep pushing forward with what we’re working on?
The CarbonCrowd sustainability report for the IC
In collaboration with DFINITY, we have released a report on the carbon-emissions of the Internet Computer blockchain. This is the first step in a series of improvements we plan to make to the Internet Computer, and ultimately to the blockchain ecosystem as a whole. I won’t go into the whole report now, but do have a look at the announcement we jointly made on Medium: https://medium.com/dfinity/internet-computer-footprint-assessing-ic-energy-consumption-and-sustainability-4a4dcf10707a We’re really excited about where this will lead, and in helping to shape the industry-standard in regards to real-time measurements!
PPAs & the state of the grid-mix

My computer is sitting mostly idle, sipping away on power supplied by the national grid, and my mind meanders back to a conversation I’ve been unwrapping over the past week. Namely, How does renewable-energy accounting actually work? Who owns what, who gets to claim what, and how do we avoid double counting of renewables?
